Dear Friends

We are so grateful for your continued support and partnership in Empowering Children. We are truly blessed to be able to serve these amazing young people and we would not be able to do it without your partnership.
Even in the midst of a difficult season, we are pleased to say that the vital work of PEFA Matumaini is still ongoing, empowering young people and their families to live life in all it’s fullness. These past few months are not as any of us would ever have planned, but we are pleased to say that God has been gracious to us.
We have been empowering our young people during this time to understand the vital importance of hand washing and keeping safe, not only in the current situation but even when life returns to some sense of normality. Through teaching them these vital lessons now, we are empowering our children with hygiene and healthy living for the future.

Since taking over as director, I have been determined to ensure that PEFA is sustainable for the future. This has lead to a number of developments in the way we utilies funds as well as developing social enterprise projects to build our sustainability. Our aim is to Empower children, and this can only be achieved through ensuring sustainability. One of main ways that we are looking to develop is through the use of our assets to better support the organisation. This includes working our shambas (fields) to produce vegtables and crop, as well as using a number of our building to start a chicken farm.
Over the coming year we aim to purchase around 10,000 chicken and use them for a mixture of egg production as well as meat that we would use ourselves as well as sell to local businesses for an additional income. In addition, once this is established we would seek to purchase cows for additional provision. This sustainability project will cost us £5,000 for all the initial expenditure, such as equipment, building alterations, and initial animal and food purchases. Whilst this is a large target, it will allow us to increase our self sufficency, and in time increase the support we can offer to young people, their families and our community thereby enabling us to achieve our aims and purposes more fully to Empower children in all aspects of their life.

We are excited about what God has for us in the future and where He is leading us. We are working closely with International Teams UK Trust to develop our communication strategy and ensure that we are keeping in touch with you, our supporters, more freqently and clearly. We will be seeking to relaunch our child sponsorship programme in the coming months and hope to be able to share more about the social enterprises at the centre as they develop.

We are grateful for your prayers and support at this time, and would like to ask if you would be willing to consider praying for the social enterprises as they develop, as well as considering making a financial donation to this vital development. There are so many ways that your donation can help us empower children at PEFA Matumaini.

14,000 KES(Approx £100.00)would allow us to buy 100 chikens (£1 each) to extend our current stock.
170,000 KES(Approx £1,250.00)would allow us to purchase all of the equipment needed to support the rearing of 1000 chickens.
35,000 KES(Approx £250.00)would allow us to make improvements to assets we have in order to house the chickens.
115,000 KES(Approx £850.00)would allow us to purchase 1 Cow, each cow produces 30-40 Litres of milk per day. 2 would provide enough milk for our consumption plus left over for sale in order to provide an income for the centre.
